The Therapeutic Recreation program is designed to provide and enhance recreation opportunities for people of all ability levels and ages to participate in leisure services. We offer both specialized classes and mainstreaming/ inclusion opportunities.

Volunteers are always welcome! Enthusiastic volunteers are a vital part of our success! For more information please contact Rachel Lewison, C.T.R.S. 303-464-5524.

Rules and Policies
1. Participation is required at all programs.
2. When dropping off participants you must acknowledge a staff member or volunteer by a greeting or hand wave. Do not drop off a participant at the curb and leave. Please call at the beginning of a program to make staff aware if a participant walks or rides the bus to the program.
3. Our staff and trained volunteers work hard to provide the highest level of experience possible to the participants. When registering please allow enough time before the class starts, and register
according to the needs of the individual (1:1 staff to participant ratio or 1:5 staff to participant ratio). 
Thanks for your cooperation in helping us keep this program a success.
4. Due to staffing we can not provide toileting. If you need assistance you must provide an assistant.
5. A therapeutic participation form must be filled out every two years for each participant.
6. Registration deadline is seven days prior to class start date.

Basketball—Special Olympics
Join us for another fun filled season of basketball. We will learn the basic basketball techniques, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. Don’t miss out! Skills
This section is for the beginner basketball player to work on the basic fundamentals and skills. We will travel to the South Boulder Recreation Center to train. If you are in need of transportation for this activity please call Rachel at 303-464-5524. Age: 8–21 Years    Min/Max: 6/12

League Play
This section is for those who have advanced to team league play and are 14 years old and over. We will play games every Tuesday. This league is held at the East BOULDER Community Center. Age: 14 Years & Over. Min/Max: 6/12

Snowshoeing—Special Olympics
This class is for all levels. This is a great way to exercise, have fun, and explore the beautiful trails of Colorado. Starting in February we will head to the local Colorado trails, transportation is provided. Gymnastics—Special Olympics
Join us for an exciting season of gymnastics. All levels are welcome! Students are taught the basic fundamentals of floor exercise, the balance beam, parallel bars, and the vault while emphasizing strength building, coordination, and body awareness. Age 8 Years & Over  Min/Max: 4/8

Track and Field—Special Olympics
On your marks get-set-go! Train for the Special Olympics and have a great time socializing. This is a great place to improve physical fitness. All ability levels welcome. Age 8 Years & Over  Min/Max: 10/25

Join us on the field and learn the basic fundamentals of soccer. Unified Soccer offers the opportunity for people with and without disabilities to play together as teammates.

Artistic Explosion

Cooking Class
In this class we learn how to design and prepare a healthy meal. This class is for those who took part I & II or are fairly independent in the kitchen currently. On the Go
Join us we head out on Saturday once a month  for an outing in the community. Explore the surrounding restaurants, entertainment, activities and more. This is for the independent individual. We are working on promoting independent living skills –you are responsible for bringing money to pay for the activity, The registration fee covers transportation and staffing costs. Softball  Summer League 
Get ready for the softball league that starts in May. A pre-requisite is to attend the skills training where we practice the basic fielding techniques along with going to the batting cages. *Mandatory skills training is on Tuesday, April 22 and April 29 at 5:00 p.m. at the Broomfield Batting Cages. Toddler Time
This class features an exciting play-based curriculum for toddlers! Your child discovers the joy of learning through stories, songs, messy art, and play activities. This class is especially designed to promote development in the areas of communication skills, socialization, concept building, problem solving, sensory play, and movement. Language, Learning, and Laughter
Develop the language skills your child will need in school. Children will be introduced to pre-reading concepts, phonemic awareness skills, concept building, sequence, and following direction activities all while laughing and having fun! Parents are encouraged to sign up the first day of class to volunteer and watch their children learn. A Speech-Language Pathologist will teach this class. Age 3–5 Years Min/Max: 5/6

Speech-Language Therapy
Has your child been identified Speech-Language Impaired? If so, and you wish your child could receive additional services, this is your chance! Sign your child up for individual speech-language therapy services at the Broomfield Recreation Center. A copy of your child’s current IEP (individual education plan) or goals from his or her SLP will be needed to personalize sessions. Age Pre K–12th Grade Min/Max: 1/1
