Additional information:

Chinese clematis is a Class B noxious weed in the State of Colorado.  It is a native of Eurasia and was introduced as an ornamental.  The vines are aggressive and can choke off other plants including small trees.  The root system is extensive, up to ten feet in length, making control difficult.  Chinese clematis is accustomed to many different growing sites from rock outcroppings to riverbanks and may be confused with our native clematis which has smaller white flowers.  The juices of freshly cut leaves and stems have a blistering agent and should be handled with gloves if found and removed.
