Broomfield Recreation Services offers a wide variety of activities to the community. And you can be involved!

Preschool Easter Party Volunteers
Volunteers help run carnival games or monitor inflatables for this event. The event usually draws approximately 150 children each year.
Occurs every year, on the Thursday before Easter

Mini HaHa Triathlon Volunteers
Over 100 volunteers are needed! Volunteers set-up for event; or pass out water, help direct participants and cheer on newcomers to fitness! Come volunteer with us for this fun fitness event. Each volunteer gets one day-pass to The Bay Aquatic Park, a t-shirt and food! Youth ages 10-13 may volunteer with an adult.
Occurs in June of every year
Shifts:
  • 6:30–10 a.m.
  • 6:30 a.m. –1 p.m.
  • 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

Broomfield Brawler Volunteers
The Broomfield Brawler is an adventure race through Broomfield. Teams compete against each other by biking or running to different challenges that are revealed through clues. Volunteers would help administer the challenges at the different locations, help with set up in the transition area and/or the hydration station located at Broomfield Community Center. Youth ages 10-13 may volunteer with an adult.
Occurs the 1st Sunday in May of every year
Shifts:
Varies, usually between 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Friday Senior Dance Volunteers
Broomfield Recreation Services hosts  Friday Senior Dances four times a year in the lakeshore room at the Broomfield Community Center. The event draws 50-100 seniors. Volunteers help with the set up for the dance, serving of refreshments, and assist facility supervisor with check in and other duties.

Broomfield Days – Green Zone Volunteers
This is an opportunity for organizations looking for exposure and volunteer work within the community. We encourage you to wear company logo shirts and promote business while assisting with our zero waste stations (please no free giveaways). Volunteers are the key to the success of our Zero Waste event! Depending on the needs of the event planner, you can expect to:
Help event participants properly dispose of their waste at Zero Waste stations, aid vendors in determining which items are acceptable to distribute, monitor Zero Waste stations for contamination, and explain the concept of Zero Waste to event participants
Occurs the third Saturday in September every year
Shifts:
  • 6:30 - 8 a.m.
  • 8 - 10:30a.m.
  • 10:30a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • 1 - 3:30 p.m.
  • 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Special Olympics
We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to help with sports training to prepare TR (Therapeutic Recreation)athletes for competition. There are four seasons. Commitment requirement is small at just one hour a week for eight weeks for the sport selected.
  • Winter: (January - March) Basketball
  • Spring: (April - May) Soccer, Track & Field, Swim Team, and Gymnastics
  • Summer: (June - August) Softball (May-August), Golf, and Bocceball
  • Fall: (September - November) Bowling

Coaching Youth Athletic Programs

Volunteer coaches are needed for various youth sports programs year round. If you are interested in passing on your knowledge of a sport or just want to help out with a youth sports team, please volunteer to coach. Eggstravaganza
Over 30 volunteers are needed to assist with the setup of the event, passing out balloons, passing out candy, and clean-up. Dress for the weather. Youth ages 12 and older may volunteer with a guardian.

Spooktacular
Over 30 volunteers are needed to assist with Carnival games, arts and crafts, monitoring children on the inflatable,s and clean-up of the event. Volunteers have fun entertaining with the carnival games and are asked to dress up for the event, please avoid scary costumes. Youth ages 14 and older may volunteer.
Occurs at the end of October
Shift: 10:30 - 2:30 p.m.

July 4th - The Great American Picnic
20 volunteers are needed! Volunteers assist with monitoring children on inflatable games, or pony rides. Please dress appropriate for the weather, and bring sunscreen, hats, glasses and water bottles. Volunteers will receive a July 4th t-shirt. Ages 15 and older may volunteer.
Occurs on July 4th every year.
Shifts:
  • 4 - 7 p.m.
  • 7 - 9:30 p.m.

Broomstock
Over 30 volunteers are needed to help set-up for the event, assist with questions or crowd control, assist bands with the stages and help with tear down. Come volunteer at Broomstock! Volunteers will receive a Broomstock t-shirt. Ages 15 and older may volunteer.
Occurs at the end of the school year every year.
Shifts: 
  • 9 a.m. - noon
  • noon  - 3 p.m.
  • 3 - 6 p.m.
  • 6 - 10 p.m.

Tree Lighting
10 volunteers are needed to assist with Santa as his elves, providing information to patrons and assisting with hay rides. Please dress warm and festive. Ages 15 and older may volunteer.
Occurs at the first Friday of December every year.
