Student Art Show
March 14 - 15, 2014
Each year, Broomfield Recreation Services and the Broomfield Council on the Arts and Humanities sponsor the Student Art Show. Open to students K - 12 attending Broomfield area schools, the show is designed to give students an opportunity to display their work and allow the community a chance to view the quality artwork created by young artists in Broomfield. Students interested in participating in this show should speak with their school’s art teacher. There will be a reception on Friday, March 14 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. and the art show will be open on Saturday, March 15 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. For more information call Dana at 303.464.5530.

Easter Party Fun
We will have the Easter Bunny available for you to take pictures, face painting, Easter games, inflatables, and prizes! It is a Hoppin’ good time!

Saturday, April 19
There is no registration, just show up! March with the Easter Bunny starting at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Bay to John Shaw Field at the Broomfield Community Park. After marching with the Easter Bunny, children age 8 and under, can participate in the 20th Annual Egg Scramble, held at John Shaw Field. The Egg Scramble begins promptly at noon. Children are divided into the following age groups: 2 years and under, 3 & 4 years, 5 & 6 years and 7 & 8 years. (In case of inclement weather, the Egg Scramble will be at the Broomfield Community Center.) Please call 303.464.5501 or check the website for more information.

Paws in the Park

Broomfield Dog Park at Broomfield County Commons
Stop by for a Easter Egg hunt for the dogs, Easter Bonnet Parade and Pictures with the Bunny. The parade will begin at 3 p.m. at the Broomfield County Commons Dog Park. The egg hunt will follow the parade in the small and large dog parks . Bring a basket for the treats. All dogs MUST be on a leash for this event. No aggressive dogs and please pick up after your pet. Please pre-register by April 18 to receive discounted rate of $3/$5. Day of event cost will be $5/$7. Presented by Broomfield’s Camp Bow Wow.

14th Annual Meals on Wheels Basket Auction
Friday, May 9, from 6–8:30 p.m.
Please plan to attend the 14th Annual Meals on Wheels Basket Auction to benefit Broomfield Meals on Wheels. Registration opens at 6 p.m.. The silent auction and reception begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a live auction. The Senior Services staff and Senior Resources of Broomfield, Inc. would like to thank the community for their support of this worthwhile and fun event. Mini HaHa Triathlon
Sunday, June 8 at 7:30 a.m.
Join us for the 14th annual Mini Haha (Mini cuz it’s short, Haha cuz it’s fun)! This triathlon is designed for beginners or recreational athletes looking for a new challenge. Participants swim 300 yards, bike 11 miles, and run/walk 2 miles. Registrations will be accepted via mail or drop off until Tuesday, March 18. All registration forms must be filled out completely with payment to be considered for the lottery. We will randomly select and then register participants for the event. MiniMini HaHa Kids Triathlon

Join us for the 4th annual MiniMini Haha Triathlon designed just for kids! This event is designed just like our adult triathlon: MiniMini ‘cuz it’s extra short for kids, and Haha, ‘cuz it’s super fun! This is a non-competitive event designed to help encourage kids to be active and healthy and make exercising fun, rewarding, and a life-long skill. The event will be a non-timed event to keep the spirit of the competition that every child is a winner, just for participating and accomplishing their goals! Of course, having a parent participant in the adult version should help motivate them as well to be like one of their family members! Registration will begin on Monday, July 7. Broomfield Brawler
The Ultimate Scavenger Hunt

Sunday, May 4, 2014
It’s a scavenger race with the same idea as a wilderness eco-challenge, but set right here in Broomfield and is conducted in a few hours. First, the race stops are a secret–hence the “scavenger” part of the name. Running and biking will be utilized during the race. Additional disciplines that each team may use could include climbing, scootering/skating, navigation, and some surprises. Technically, swimming is not listed but we reserve the right to get racers wet! Grab your running shoes, bikes and helmets and we’ll provide the rest! Registration forms will be accepted via mail or drop-off to Broomfield Community Center or the Paul Derda Recreation Center until May 1! All registration forms must be filled out completely with payment attached. Payment by check only, made out to ”F.R.I.E.N.D.S of Broomfield”. Late registrants may be accepted at the discretion of the race committee and will not receive a tech shirt.Team Check-In is Saturday, May 3 from 8–10 a.m. at the Paul Derda Recreation Center.

Broomfield Trail Adventure
Saturday, June 7
The 2014 Broomfield Trail Adventure will take place on Saturday, June 7, and will be hosted at the Community Park in Anthem, next to Siena Reservoir.  This is a great family friendly event to learn more about Broomfield’s trails and open space.  The event is free and includes prizes, refreshments, and educational exhibits.  Please visit the Open Space and Trails website for more information.

Great American Picnic
Thursday, July 4
We start our celebration at 5:30 p.m. with pony rides and inflatables. Enjoy a free concert with “FACE and later “The 80’s Band”. Bring your picnic dinner or enjoy a dinner from our vendors at the park. Charcoal grills are not permitted. After the concert, at dusk, the fireworks display begins, approximately 9:15 p.m..

Great American Picnic’s 8th Annual Bike Parade
Decorate your bicycles/tricycles/wagons and scooters and meet at the Championship Field at Broomfield County Commons on Thursday, July 4 at 5:30 p.m.. The bike parade is for everyone of all ages.

Parking will be available in the parking lots at the Broomfield County Commons. Additional parking will be located at Legacy High School with shuttles provided. RV’s, Campers, trailers or other extra-large vehicles will ONLY be allowed to park in the Legacy High School parking lots. Meet at the Gazebo at Legacy High School to take the shuttle to the Commons. Shuttles will start running at 5 p.m.. Limited Handicap parking available at the Commons west parking lot.

Great America Picnic Weather Notifications
If fire and police officials determine that continuing the fireworks display impacts the safety of individuals and property in the area, the display could be delayed or stopped. Should that happen, announcements will be made over the public address system and staff will notify viewers of the status. Please look for the lights located in the field where fireworks are displayed to see the fireworks display status. Rain Date for the fireworks ONLY is scheduled for July 5 approximately 9:15 p.m..

Broomfield Days Open Golf Tournament
Friday, September 19 at 1 p.m.
Join us for a beautiful summer morning at the Broadlands Golf Course. Proceeds of the tournament benefit the Senior Programs. Don’Tuesday miss out on this exciting Shotgun event (a four-person scramble tournament.) Sign up for the event of the summer. Contact Dana at 303.464.5530 for more information. The $100 or $400 team fee includes green fees, cart fee, practice balls, lunch, sleeve of balls, tees, divot repair tool, and a GREAT TIME.

Broomfield Days Community Festival
Saturday, September 20
Broomfield Days, Broomfield’s annual community festival, is held on Saturday, September 20. This day is packed with activities including a 5K race, a clown contest, a parade, a trade fair, a craft festival, food booths, three stages of entertainment, demonstrations, and great community spirit. This is an opportunity for local organizations to raise money. Broomfield Days Concert is Saturday, September 20 from 4:30–6 p.m. at Midway Park. More information will be printed in the 2014 Fall/2015 Winter Brochure.
