Therapeutic Recreation
What is Therapeutic Recreation?
The Therapeutic Recreation program is designed to provide and enhance recreation opportunities for people of all ability levels and ages to participate in leisure services. We offer both specialized classes and mainstreaming / inclusion opportunities.

Our staff and trained volunteers work hard to provide the highest level of experience possible to the participants. When registering please allow enough time before the class starts, and register according to the needs of the participant. Thanks for your cooperation in helping us keep this program a success.

Mainstream / Inclusion
We offer assistance to individuals with or without disabilities to recreate together. If you see a class offered in the brochure and would like to participate but need assistance, please let us know.  To request inclusion assistance, check the appropriate box on the registration form. If registering online please call Rachel Robbins, C.T.R.S. at 303.460.6924. Please allow three weeks prior to the start of class to allow us to assist in providing the necessary support.

  • If you would like to participate we request that you fill out the TR Participation form in order for us to better serve you.  Please complete the form and return it to Rachel Robbins, CTRS prior to the start of the program.
  • Group: Participants who are independent or require minimal verbal prompting and minimal behaviors.
  • 1:1: Participants who need physical assistance and/or additional support due to behavioral needs.
  • Inclusion: To request an inclusion experience contact Rachel Robbins at 303.460.6924 for more information.

Rules and Policies
  • Participation is required at all programs.

  • A therapeutic participation form must be filled out every two years for each participant. The form is located at the registration front desk or online.
  • Registration deadline is seven days prior to class start date.
  • In order to compete at a Special Olympics sanctioned competition you must have a SOCO Athlete Participation Application on file with Special Olympics of Colorado. They must be completed every three years. The form can be found on the Special Olympics website at www.specialolympicsco.org.
