Self-Sufficiency, Employment and Public Assistance Division Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) The Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+), is a full service health plan for Colorado's uninsured children age 18 and under. CHP+ is a managed care health plan and is not Medicaid. Coverage is limited to a comprehensive package of benefits designed specifically for children and youth. This program offers low-cost health and dental insurance to families who make too much money to join Medicaid but not enough to afford private insurance. Children in CHP+ get their health services in an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization). An HMO is a group of doctors, nurses, hospitals and othe rproviders who work together to give children in CHP+ health care. Members must visit a doctor within the HMO. Pregnant women may get health care right away while they wait for CHP+ to review their applications. This is called presumptive eligibility.
