Broomfield Workforce Center

  Workforce Investment Act (WIA)

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) was designed to meet the needs of both a job seeker trying to further their career and for employers looking for qualified applicants for their jobs.  Federal WIA funds are allocated to local Workforce Regions to design programs and services that best meet the needs of the local labor market.

The goal of WIA is to help you acquire marketable skills that will lead to gainful employment.  WIA can assist in paying up to $3,000 for short-term training of one year or less.

Before applying for the WIA program at the Broomfield Workforce Center:

►  Register as a job seeker through www.connectingcolorado.com.
►  Research the local labor market and identify your needed skills or certifications.
If you don't know what type of job you're interested in, the Workforce Center has resources
available to help you.  Please call (303) 464-5855 for more information.
►  Meet with a Workforce Specialist at the Broomfield Workforce Center to review the local labor market.
►  If you find that you will need training to gain employment in your career field, please
contact the
Broomfield Workforce Center and sign up to attend a WIA Orientation.

To apply for the WIA program through the Broomfield Workforce Center you must:

►  Be a Broomfield resident (verification will be required).
►  Provide documentation that you are eligible to work in the United States.
►  Be 18 years of age or older (if younger, please see
WIA Youth Program information).

For WIA to assist in paying for training, the training provider must be listed as approved at  http://navigator.cdle.state.co.us/.  Please note that WIA cannot reimburse for training costs already incurred.  Approval from WIA must be received prior to starting a training program or enrolling in a semester program.
