Public Health and Environment Division Schools and Child Care Facilities Program The Broomfield Health and Human Services Department, Public Health and Environment Division's Environmental Health Services Program performs the following services for schools and child cares to ensure that facilities meet all health code regulations. The Colorado Department of Human Services licenses commercial child care facilities and requires an inspection to be conducted by the local public health entity once every two years to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. The inspection performed by the division includes activities such as ensuring cleaning fluids are locked in a cabinet out of the reach of small children, and that soap dispensers are filled and hand washing is encouraged to prevent the spread of disease between children and workers. Before and after school care facilities are also licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services and, while not commercial child care facilities, are expected to comply with health and safety standards.
