Accepted Materials

Please do not leave PLASTIC BAGS or STYROFOAM® of any kind anywhere on the Recycling Center site. Follow the directions on the containers and put your recyclables into the bins marked for each material.

ALUMINUM AND STEEL (TIN) Please rinse, labels OK. AEROSOL CANS are recyclable-no lids please. Clean ALUMINUM FOIL is also accepted.

Glass bottles clipart

Glass Bottles and Jars - All Colors

JARS AND BOTTLES ONLY-Please rinse, labels OK. NO lids, dishes, mirrors, light bulbs, window glass, auto glass or drinking glasses, or Pyrex®.

NO PLASTIC BAGS OR STYROFOAM® OF ANY KIND! Plastic bags can be recycled at local grocery stores.

Plastics - #'s 1 - 7

Please flatten gallon jugs and bottles 2 liters and larger. Do not flatten smaller bottles.  NO LIDS.

NO plastic or Styrofoam clamshells (restaurant take-out type), waste oil bottles, prescription bottles, 5-gallon buckets, or any plastics other than #'s 1 to 7 bottles and tubs.

Catalogs, Magazines, Brochures, Junk Mail, and Phone Books

All magazines OK; please tear catalogs into sections no larger than 1/2" thick. Please open junk mail.

Please flatten boxes. No 6-pack holders, cereal or similar boxes.

NEWSPAPERS AND THE INSERTS THAT COME WITH THE PAPER ONLY

NO BAGS!

HIGH GRADE WHITE OFFICE PAPER

White and light pastel-colored loose leaf paper, notebook paper, letterhead, computer printouts, blueprints, and white or light-colored envelopes only. NO SHREDDED PAPER!!


These Papers are NOT accepted:

  • Papers contaminated with food, beverage or hazardous waste residues
  • Fluorescent and dark-colored paper
  • Books: paperback and hardback
  • Carbon paper
  • Foil-lined boxes
  • Frozen food and drink packaging
  • Kraft paper (dark brown or orange)
  • Pet food, charcoal or fertilizer bags
  • Photographs
  • Tyvek® envelopes (white cloth like, non-tear envelopes)
  • Bubble-wrap reinforced envelopes
  • Used tissues, napkins or paper plates
  • Holiday or greeting cards
  • Wrapping paper
  • Tissue paper
  • Shredded paper

BOOKSBooks clipart

Hardback and paperback books. We accept books on the north side of the building. NO business books or manuals. 

TEXTILES

Clothing, towels, bedding and fabrics. Items may be torn, but must be clean and measure at least 12 inches square. Due to health and safety guidelines, NO socks or underwear, please. The textile recycling bin is located on the west end of the  building.
