Trash Collection/Curbside Recycling
The City & County of Broomfield does not provide trash collection service. Trash removal is contracted on an
individual basis* with private solid waste companies. Nearly all of the trash haulers
licensed to operate in Broomfield offer curbside recycling.
Services, prices, and pick-up days vary depending on the hauler you choose. Individuals may select a hauler from the
list of the Licensed Trash companies in Broomfield. For
more information, contact Community Assistance at 303.438.6390.
*If you live within a homeowners' association-regulated area, contact your association
or management company for
more information on trash removal.
In addition to the curbside recycling opportunity provided by the trash hauling services, the City & County
of Broomfield offers several supplemental recycling programs for the items
below.

Junk Mail
According to the EPA, nearly 4 million TONS of junk mail ends up in U. S. landfills every year! There are ways to
curtail those mailings.
Contact direct marketers: Manage the list of those that send you mailings at Direct Marketing Association.
Opt out of unsolicited catalogs or
credit card solicitations.
If you do business online, you usually have an option on the web page to opt out of receiving promotional materials.
If you don't opt out, your information could end up on a direct-marketing list that sends junk mail
through the postal service, not just electronically.
If you receive a piece of junk mail and it contains anything like "return service requested, forwarding service
requested, address service requested" etc., you can write "refused, return to sender" on the unopened envelope,
put it back in your mailbox, and the postal service will return it. The company should then take you off its list.
Hire a service to reduce your junk mail. There is a fee associated with
this service.

This popular program is run by Broomfield's Park Services
division and is co-located within the recycling drop-off center at 225
Commerce Street. The tree limb yard is located just behind the
recycling bins on the north.
HOURS OF OPERATION: Due to space constraints with the small
drop-off yard, the tree-limb drop-off is open and staffed on
Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The site
will be CLOSED at all other times. This schedule is in effect year-round.
Only tree branches and shrub branches will be accepted. Please do not
bring trash, sod, grass clippings or other landscape debris
including lumber and fence materials. Absolutely no wire, nails or metal
of any kind is allowed due to potential damage to the tub grinder and risk to the
operators. Branches more than 18 inches in diameter must be cut
into 4-foot lengths.
This program is available to
Broomfield Residents only-NO contractors or non-residents; proof of
residency will be required at the gate. The sight is monitored
24 hours by surveillance camera, and violators will be prosecuted for
illegal dumping under section 8.04.020 of the Broomfield Municipal
Code.

Center. Bring your shovel and take as much as you need—there is no
limit!

Waste Oil Recycling Program
Do you change your own motor oil? Broomfield residents can participate in Broomfield's
Waste Oil Recycling program operated by the Public
Works Fleet Maintenance Division. This year-round program is located at the Norman Smith Service Center at 3001 W. 124th
Avenue. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of
each month. (If the first Saturday is a holiday, the collection will take place on the second Saturday instead.) For more
information, call Fleet Maintenance at 303.438.6336.
Cooking Oil Recycling!
The Waste Motor Oil Collection Program has expanded to include a separate drop-off for the
collection and
recycling of cooking oil. The new cooking oil recycling program will be co-located with the waste motor oil drop-site
at the Norman Smith Service Center, 3001 West 124th Avenue (just
east of Lowell Blvd.) Cooking oil should be placed in a plastic jug with a lid for transport.
It will be necessary for those bringing oil to take back their empty containers for recycling or disposal. Cooking oil
should not be mixed with any other liquid including used motor oil, which will continue to be accepted for recycling at
the same times and location. If the two oils are mixed, it will render them both non-recyclable.
For more information, please call the Environmental Services Division at 303.438.6329.

include AT&T, Best Buy, LG Electronics, Motorola, Nokia, Office Depot, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Sprint, Staples, and
T-Mobile. Contact your cell phone provider to know how and where to recycle your used cell phone.
