The Board of Equalization (BOE) for the City and County of
Broomfield hears appeals of property valuation and classification by
the Assessor, which is accomplished through the protest or abatement
process. The mission of the BOE is to assure just and equalized
property tax assessments.
The City Clerk's staff provides administrative assistance to the
BOE, including packet preparation, attendance at meetings, and
production of minutes. The City Clerk's office provides scheduling
assistance for the real and personal property appeal and abatement
process for petitions submitted by the taxpayers.
A taxpayer may choose to appeal the decision of the Assessor's
office to the BOE. In order to process appeals within the State's
statutory time limits, the BOE appoints Hearing Officers to preside
over hearings and to make recommendations to the BOE.
If you have any questions about the valuation of your property, you
may contact the
Assessor's office.
