  1. Children's - Cats Hat March Reading Program

    March 1 - March 31 @ Children's Library

    All children up to age 12 are invited to participate in out Cat's Hat March Reading Program. Kids need to read 3 books at their level that they have never read before, write the titles of the books on a Cat's Hat tally sheet and put it in the cat's hat on the desk in the Children's Library. Non-readers may be read to. Starting Saturday, March 1, tally sheets can be picked up in the Children's Library or downloads from the Children's Library website at www.broomfieldchildrenslibrary.org, then click on Special Events. You may enter as many times as you like! All entries are due by closing on Monday, march 31. A drawing will be held after the contest ends to pick 5 winners. Winners will receive a colorful Cat's hat!

  2. Children - Baby Story Time

    March 13, 9:15 AM - 9:35 AM @ Children's Story Room

    For children newborn - 24 months and a caregiver. An interactive story time focusing on the three "Rs" - Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition. Enjoy age appropriate books, songs, rhymes and baby sign language -- all intended to promote language development and early literacy in a lively and fun atmosphere! Facts on brain development, early literacy and social emotional growth are shared throughout the program. Includes time for adults to socialize and babies to play. No registration required. This program is repeated on Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 10:20 a.m.

  4. Children - Family Story Time

    March 13, 10:45 AM - 11:15 AM @ Children's Library Story Room

    All are welcome at our family Story Time! This program features participatory stories, songs and movement activities geared towards promoting early literacy and building a foundation for a love of books. Age appropriate activities are presented in 3 segments from younger to older in order to meet the developmental needs of babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Transitions are built into the program so younger children can take a break if necessary. Join us for a wonderful shared experience for the whole family! No registration required.

  5. Children - Preschool Story Time

    March 13, 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    Preschoolers enjoy stories and songs that develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity. This program is reserved for children ages 3 - 5 who can sit on their own and comfortably participate in a variety of literature based activities geared towards preparing children for learning to read. Asking children to attend without their caregivers helps to develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school. No registration required.Stop at the Children's Desk for a name tag and a ticket. This program is repeated on Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

  6. Children - ARF! Afternoon Reading Fun (Read to a Dog)

    March 13, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    Afternoon Reading Fun (ARF!) is a program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children can come to the library to read to a therapy dog trained to listen quietly without correcting or judging. This is especially beneficial to students who are struggling with reading. ARF! is conducted in a relaxing environment where readers can build their confidence and fluency. Students read one-on-one with the therapy dog without being interrupted by parents, siblings or other adults. Sign-up begins at 3:45 at the Children's Desk. Call 720-887-2315 for more information.
