    Join is for an evening with renown University of Colorado Historian and Faculty Director of the Center of the American West, Patty Limerick. Patty will discuss history as an active presence in the West including its dramatic past and contentious present.

  1. Cool Kids Winter Reading Program

    January 9, All Day @ Children's Library

    For children newborn - age 12. Kids, read 3 books between December 15 and January 12. Fill out an entry form in the Children's Library or download one starting December 15 from the Children's Library/Special Events page on the library's website. Put the form in the Cool Kids Winter Reading Program box on the Children's Desk. Be sure to choose books that you have not read before and books that are at your reading level. Non-readers may be read to. You may enter as many times as you like. Entries will be chosen at random to receive a very special prize. 720-887-2315

  2. Children - Baby Story Time

    January 9, 9:15 AM - 9:35 AM @ Children's Story Room

    For children newborn - 24 months and a caregiver. An interactive story time focusing on the three "Rs" - Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition. Enjoy age appropriate books, songs, rhymes and baby sign language -- all intended to promote language development and early literacy in a lively and fun atmosphere! Facts on brain development, early literacy and social emotional growth are shared throughout the program. Includes time for adults to socialize and babies to play. No registration required. This program is repeated on Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 10:20 a.m.

  4. Children - Family Story Time

    January 9, 10:45 AM - 11:15 AM @ Children's Library Story Room

    All are welcome at our family Story Time! This program features participatory stories, songs and movement activities geared towards promoting early literacy and building a foundation for a love of books. Age appropriate activities are presented in 3 segments from younger to older in order to meet the developmental needs of babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Transitions are built into the program so younger children can take a break if necessary. Join us for a wonderful shared experience for the whole family! No registration required.

  5. Children - Preschool Story Time

    January 9, 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    Preschoolers enjoy stories and songs that develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity. This program is reserved for children ages 3 - 5 who can sit on their own and comfortably participate in a variety of literature based activities geared towards preparing children for learning to read. Asking children to attend without their caregivers helps to develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school. No registration required.Stop at the Children's Desk for a name tag and a ticket. This program is repeated on Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

  6. Children - A.R.F. Afternoon Reading Fun (Read to a Dog)

    January 9, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    Seven, Sassy and Leo can’t wait to hear you read! Students in kindergarten to fifth grade build confidence by reading aloud to trained therapy dogs. Bring your own book or choose a library book and our dog friends will listen without correcting or judging. This creates a relaxing reading environment where readers can build their confidence and fluency. Sign-up begins at 3:45 at the Children's Desk. Call 720-887-2315 for more information.
