April 17- "Calming the Anxious Child"

Children feel anxiety for many different reasons. In some instances anxiety is mild and fleeting, while in other cases it can be overwhelming for a child. Learn how to recognize anxiety and practice healthy strategies to calm an anxious child. Michelle Kaye, MA, LPC. For adults.

Upstairs in the Eisenhower Room. No one under 13 admitted unless accompanied by someone older than 13.
No registration required, but space is limited. Covered water only, no other drinks allowed. Movie theater popcorn will be provided!

 

Cats Hat logoCat's Hat March Reading Program
March 1-31, 2010

Kids up to age 12 are invited to participate in our Cat's Hat March Reading Program. Read three books at your level that you have never read before, write the titles on one of our tally sheets, and turn this in at the Children's Library. (Non readers may be read to). Enter as many times as you like. At the end of the month, six lucky readers will win a colorful Cat's Hat!

Story Times

Baby Story Times For ages newborn - 24 months with caregiver
Thursdays 9:15 - 9:35 a.m. and repeated at 10 -10:20 a.m.
Accompanying adults will be encouraged to interact with their babies through books, songs, rhymes and bounces. No registration required.

Toddler Story Times For ages 21 - 35 months with caregiver

Preschool Story Times are for children ages 3 - 5 years who can sit on their own, listen to age-appropriate stories and participate in songs and fingerplays. No registration required.

For children of all ages - stories, songs and fingerplays for the whole family! No registration required, but space is limited.

First Saturday Family Story Time & Craft For all ages
First Saturday of each month from 11 - 11:45 a.m.

Students in Kindergarten to 5th grade can build confidence and fluency in their skills by reading aloud to Shiva or Magic, trained therapy dogs! Shiva and Magic will listen quietly without correcting or judging, creating a relaxing reading environment. Bring your own book, or choose a library book on your reading level. No registration required, but space is limited.


Third Saturday fun logo Third Saturday Fun!
Attention kindergarteners - 2nd graders: this program is especially for you, and is presented the third Saturday of each month. Each program involves books, activities and a special craft built around a theme. This is a program for children currently attending grades K - 2. Kindergarten guidelines are that children be at least 5 years old by September 2009 and in an elementary level Kindergarten program (not Pre-K)

Saturday, March 20, 2010, 1 - 2 p.m. - "Cooking Up Some Fun!"
Registration deadline: Wednesday, March 18. Space is limited.

A monthly craft time for children ages 2 and up and their caregivers. Come to the Children's Library during the designated time and make a craft to take home with you! Usually on the first Friday of the month, unless otherwise noted on the monthly Children's Library Calendar of events. No registration is required and all supplies are provided.

The Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library would like to tell you how happy we are to welcome your new baby as a member of our community.  The Children’s Library would like to invite you to receive a few special gifts as part of our  Baby Welcome Program.

If you are a Broomfield resident and have an infant age newborn to 1 year (12 months),  please contact the Children’s Library to reserve your Baby Welcome Program gift packet.  Each packet of free welcome materials includes a book, bookmark, gift bag, baby T-shirt and library related informational flyers. We would like to help your family have a positive beginning to a lifelong learning experience with books.
