Temporary Trail Closures
UPDATE: July 22, 2014 - In response to concerns about incidents involving coyotes and citizens with dogs on leash at The Field Open Space, several trails are still closed on a temporary basis. Currently, trails on the south side of Midway Blvd. have been re-opened.

Broomfield staff, in cooperation with Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff, is evaluating the coyote activity in The Field over the next week to determine when trails by the pond and Brunner Farmhouse may be reopened. The removal of the coyote last week was a very unfortunate situation and was done as a last resort to protect public safety. Once staff has a better understanding of how the pack may or may not be changing its movement patterns, a decision will be made on whether to open the closed trails. There are currently .6 miles of trails closed and 4.3 miles of sidewalks and trails open in the immediate area of The Field. Trail users are asked to use the open trails and abide by the trail closures so that conflicts can be avoided.

Cooperation is greatly appreciated.

See map below that shows which trails are still closed.

Broomfield staff continues to communicate with Colorado Parks & Wildlife on this matter. Please see Broomfield’s Coexistence with Wildlife Policy and additional information on coyotes.
